The dynamic duo of debt management joins ECMC Solutions

ECMC Solutions is pleased to introduce our exceptional team of senior debt management program advisors. With extensive backgrounds in debt management, financial literacy and higher education, combined with a deep understanding of schools' diverse needs, Tommy Sims and Nick Martinez are ready to assist schools with all aspects of default prevention and debt management.

Tommy Sims

Tommy Sims joins ECMC Solutions bringing nearly 24 years' experience in debt management with various for-profit career colleges, including DeVry University, Kaplan Higher Education, Career Education Corporation and Ultimate Medical Academy. Sims honed his expertise in default and debt management during an 18-year career as Director of Financial Aid at DeVry University. At each of the institutions listed above, he was instrumental in lowering their cohort default rate and providing financial literacy to students. A renowned speaker and strategist on debt management and financial literacy, Sims has the ability to make these important topics high priorities on any campus. He has presented at many conferences, including NASFAA, APSCU and FAPSC.

Nick Martinez

Nick Martinez comes to ECMC Solutions from Kaplan Higher Education where he was Group Director of Default Management and Strategy. Martinez's and Sims' work at Kaplan resulted in one of the very few instances of an actual cohort default rate reduction among publicly traded for-profit schools when comparing the 2008 and 2009 two-year cohort default rates. Martinez has a 12-year track record of success working in the student finance area for large to small for-profit schools. Prior to his career in student finance, Martinez worked in the collections and customer service industry for 15 years perfecting his skills in problem solving and customer relations.

Serving as the dynamic duo of debt management for ECMC Solutions, Sims and Martinez will create curriculum as well as train and develop debt management skills for schools and their students. They will also provide assistance to schools in challenging draft cohort default rates.

"We are so pleased to have Tommy and Nick on our team," said Ted Sparks, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Their experience and talent add tremendous value to our company and, more importantly, to our clients."
